Hey, Duane here! I had the awesome opportunity to attend the CMON Expo 2023, held from November 4 to 5 at the Samyan Mitrtown Hall in Bangkok. This epic board game event was all about bringing the best of the global tabletop scene to Asia. Imagine GEN CON or Essen Spiel, but with an Eastern twist and a spotlight on the latest CMON releases!
Mark your calendars, folks because CMON EXPO 2024 is set for November 2 (Saturday) and November 3 (Sunday) at MCC Hall, The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, 3rd Floor, in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand.
This two-day board game extravaganza is all about bringing the world’s best tabletop experiences right here to Asia. Think of it as our very own GenCon or Essen Spiel, but with an Asian twist. CMON Expo Bangkok will feature top publishers from Europe, the US, and Asia, including, of course, the incredible CMON studio.
You’ll get to check out the hottest releases from 2023 and 2024, straight from the source. Expect official tournaments with exclusive prizes, and don’t miss the chance to meet your favorite game designers, get some autographs, and dive into interviews. Plus, you can snag the latest board game releases from GenCon 2024 and Essen Spiel 2024. See you there! 🎲

Our CMON EXPO Experience last year
The atmosphere was electric with official tournaments offering exclusive prizes to the champs. We supported our very own Chago Capala as he competed in the Cascadia Tournament. Game designers were in the mix, chatting with fans, signing autographs, and sharing insights in interviews. (And yes, I was able to rub shoulder and even play games with Mathias Wigge, the designer of Ark Nova and Randy Flynn, designer of Cascadia). Plus, attendees got their hands on some of the hottest board game releases straight from GenCon 2023 and Essen Spiel 2023. It was a dream come true for any gamer, and the memories of this event will stick around long after the dice have cooled.
But let’s be real—going to the CMON Expo is also the perfect excuse to explore the vibrant city of Bangkok! 🏙️ While you're there, make sure to visit iconic spots like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the bustling Chatuchak Market. If you’re a foodie like me, don’t miss out on trying pad thai, som tam (papaya salad), and mango sticky rice—street food heaven! 🍜🍢
Traveling on a budget? No worries! Bangkok’s got you covered with affordable public transport like the BTS Skytrain and tuk-tuks. You can find great budget accommodations around Khao San Road and still have plenty left over to enjoy the city’s nightlife and street markets.
CMON Expo in Bangkok is quickly becoming the ASEAN equivalent of Spiel Essen, and I’m excited to see where it’ll go next. It’s more than just an event; it’s a gathering of players coming together for the love of the game, the camaraderie, and the joy of tabletop gaming. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!
