ALL ABOARD EXPO Workshops: Empowering the Next Generation of Tabletop Creators

As the Philippines observes Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), we are reminded that bravery takes many forms. While we honor the historical heroism of our ancestors, we also recognize the modern courage required to innovate, to teach, and to share one’s creative soul with the world. True valor is found in the pursuit of education and the audacity to put your concepts on the table for all to see.

This May, ALL ABOARD EXPO 2026 invites you to channel that spirit. We have curated a powerhouse lineup of workshops and sessions on May 28 to 31, designed to bridge the gap between "the big idea" and a finished masterpiece.

The Workshop Lineup

Here is a closer look at the sessions you can join:

Board Game Design Panel

Date: May 28 (Thu)
Time:
12:00 NN
Target Audience: Aspiring Designers and Tabletop Enthusiasts

Every great game starts with a simple "What if?", but we know that turning that idea into a real prototype can feel a bit like a puzzle. (If the technical side sounds a little daunting, don't worry—we’ve got your back!) In this panel, we’re pulling back the curtain to show you how it’s actually done. You'll hear directly from industry experts about their own creative journeys and how they mix math, theme, and player choices to build something special. It’s a great chance to hang out, ask questions, and chat with some truly amazing board game designers.

Board Game Feedback Lab with Anthony Perone and Emerson Matsuuchi

Date: May 28 (Thu)
Time:
3:00 PM
Target Audience: Game Developers with Active Prototypes

Ready for the next step? If you have a game concept you’ve been working on, this is your chance to get some friendly, expert eyes on it. We’re hosting a session where you can get direct feedback from Anthony Perone, the designer behind hits like Courtisans and Lost Lantern; and Emerson Matsuuchi, the designer behind Century Spice Road and Metal Gear Solid: The Board Games.

It is a rare opportunity to sit down with an international veteran and chat about your mechanics or how the game feels to play. Whether you are trying to balance a tricky deck-builder or fine-tune the logic of a social deduction game, Anthony is here to help you level up. Just a heads-up: slots are limited, so grab yours while you can!

The Educator’s Workshop

Date: May 29 (Fri)
Time: 1:00 PM
Presented by:
Happy Baobab with Hana Cho
Target Audience: Teachers, School Administrators, and Corporate Trainers

Education is the ultimate act of empowerment. Hana Cho, recipient of the Prime Minister’s Commendation Award, will demonstrate how tabletop games serve as powerful tools for interactive learning. This workshop focuses on "Happy Baobab" strategies—award-winning, gamified methods that foster collaboration and critical thinking in students. Learn how to integrate play into your curriculum to make lessons not just memorable, but transformative.

Illustration Workshop

Date: May 30 (Sat)
Time: 10:00 AM
Target Audience: Digital and Traditional Artists, Portfolio Builders

I know for a fact that there are so many talented Filipino artists already working on incredible board and card games. The look of a game is usually the very first thing a player notices, so getting that visual identity right is huge.

Come hang out with Maeva da Silva (the brilliant illustrator behind Harmonies and Dixit Disney) and industry pro David Esbri from Devir for a relaxed but deep dive into the world of game art. They will be chatting about:

  • From Concept to Canvas: How to take a game's rules and turn them into eye-catching art.

  • Building Your Portfolio: Pro tips on how to show off your work so international publishers take notice.

  • Finding Your Voice: How to keep your unique artistic style while making sure the art actually works for the game pieces.
