Rules

General Rules

  • The tournament follows the official rules, which are found in the Unmatched Core Rulebook and Unmatched Special Rules (Version 8.2 from BGG). Gaming Library rulesets are in effect for this tournament.

  • Before the tournament begins, Gaming Library will publish a bracket on Challonge, showing the route to the final. The bracket is public information and any player may ask to see their current standing in the tournament

  • On arrival, players must register and have their roster recorded. Each player is required to bring 5 different official, playable fighters.

  • Please respect each other including the judges and organizers.

  • Please respect the judge’s decision.

  • Important Note: All sets are permitted. However, only 1 S-tier fighter (Dr. Strange, Elektra, Medusa, Sherlock Holmes) may be included in a player's roster.

  • Most Important Note: Have fun!

Format

  • The tournament will follow the Swiss format. Players will be paired with other players with a similar tournament score while ensuring that they won’t be paired to the same players twice.

  • Byes will be considered as wins and is given to a random player in the first round and to the lowest ranking player beyond that. Moreover a player may never receive a bye twice

  • Ties will be broken up in the following order:

  1. Wins vs Tied Participants

  2. Median - Buchholz

  3. Points Difference

Registration

  • Players are encouraged to arrive at least 15 mins before the start time for registration (Players who have pre-registered to the tournament online will be requested to present their order number).

  • Players are required to declare their 5 chosen fighters before the start of the tournament. They aren’t allowed to use any other fighters aside from those 5.

Setup

  • A 10 minute setup period is given before each match for players to ban/pick their fighters.

  • Maps are first determined randomly.

  • Players will bring 5 different fighters at the start of the tournament.

  • Players will then flip a coin or roll a die. The winner gets to choose whether they get Position Advantage or Drafting Advantage. The loser gets the other.

  • From this point on whoever has Position Advantage is now considered as the first player while the other will be the second player.

  • Then the banning phase goes as follows:

    • Players presents all 5 of their chosen fighters

    • First player bans 1 of their opponent’s fighter

    • Second player bans 2 fighters

    • First player bans 2 more fighters

    • Second players bans 1 fighter

    • Both players simultaneously pick 1 fighter from the 2 remaining

    • First player chooses their starting position

  • For more information, please refer to this document.

During the Match

  • A chess clock will be used. If a player’s time runs out, they lose immediately. The configurations are as follows:

    • Timing mode: Bronstein

    • Time Limit: 5 mins.

    • Increment: 1 min.

  • The timer must be paused during combat interactions and during times which require the opponent’s decision. We request that players do not abuse this timer.

  • Each match is only expected to last 40 minutes. However the chess clock does not guarantee this. If a match exceeds the allotted time, players will take 1 last turn with the timer active such that they have an equal amount of turns. After that, we disregard the timer and each player will now take 3 final turns before we determine the winner. Each turn is only expected to last 2 minutes.

  • Feel free to call a judge if you need any rule clarifications. There are no stupid questions.
