September’s First Half Showdowns

The first Ranked Tournament of September showed us sharp action, with players locking in champions, ults, and clutch performances. The winners showcased both consistency and adaptation, reinforcing which champions are climbing in reliability—and which look shaky in comparison.

Winner Highlights

• Rikka started strong with Pyromancer, closing out a few clean wins, including a high-margin match vs Paul’s Cursed Pirate.

• Meg continued to show his strength with Shadow Thief and Tactician, grabbing wins with solid performances.

• Claude also had a banner performance with Loki, particularly in matchups where opponents were forced to respond rather than set the pace.

• Rex also secured wins with Cursed Pirate and Paladin, but found himself on the back foot against Tactician.

• JP Quick delivered one of the strongest displays, particularly with Tactician. His huge win (41 HP margin) over Owen's Shadow Thief was one of the most dominant results of the night.

Meta Takeaways

• Pyromancer & Shadow Thief looked reliable — These picks had good win percentages. Pyromancer, in particular, had multiple clean wins, showing her damage output under ranked pressure works. Shadow Thief showed a good performance, as always.

• Champions with higher HP swings were telling — Matches where one side out-damaged the other heavily (e.g., JP Quick vs Owen) tended to snowball, especially when champions have tools to maintain tempo or finish off damage.

• Ults weren’t always the deciding factor, but when used effectively (especially with champions with value in their ultimate), they added punch.

• Banned / unpicked heroes stats show certain champions are being respected—some getting banned or avoided even before being played. The meta is increasingly aware of which heroes can swing matches.
