Dice Throne: August 2025 Battle Report & Meta Update (1/2)
Published on  Updated on

Last August 10 at SM North, the Dice Throne community once again gathered for an intense day of mind games, dice rolls, and hero mastery. While our store space could only accommodate a limited number of participants, the energy was high from start to finish. In fact, we could have had even more players if space allowed, but don’t worry, we’ll see you again this August 30 at Greenbelt 5 for the next round!

A heartwarming highlight of the day was the return of a father-and-son duo who seemed to be enjoying the game more than ever, sharing laughs and strategies throughout the event. Moments like these are what make our tournaments more than just competitions — they’re community gatherings.

Hero Meta Snapshot

Most Brought Heroes
The Shadow Thief led the roster with 5 appearances, followed closely by the Barbarian and Pyromancer with 3 each. The Monk also made a notable showing with 3 picks.

Most Contested Heroes (Bans + Picks)
The Shadow Thief was the most hotly contested hero, with 12 total contests (5 brought, 7 banned). The Pyromancer followed with 9 contests (3 brought, 6 banned), while Loki was heavily targeted despite not being played, with 8 total contests (2 brought, 6 banned).

Top Performers

Among heroes who saw multiple games:

  • Cursed Pirate was the standout, dominating with an 80% win rate (4–1 record).

  • Perfect records were posted by Ninja, Tactician, Rogue, Psylocke, and Gambit, each winning all of their matches.

  • Jean Grey and Moon Elf also performed well with win rates of 66.67%.

In the small sample size category, Ninja, Psylocke, and Gambit all walked away undefeated — a perfect 100% win rate each.

Challenging Outings

Some heroes struggled to find success:

  • Paladin went winless in 2 matches (0%).

  • Samurai, Treant, Vampire Lord, Iceman, Deadpool, and Krampus each failed to secure a win in their single appearances.

  • Even the Barbarian and Pyromancer, despite multiple plays, only managed a 25% win rate.

Looking Ahead

The SM North event was a great reminder that Dice Throne’s meta is constantly shifting. With Shadow Thief still ruling the ban list, and Cursed Pirate making a strong case as a meta-breaker, August 30 at Greenbelt 5 could bring a shake-up in hero picks and strategies.

Whether you’re chasing the crown, defending your main, or just enjoying the atmosphere like our returning father-and-son team, we hope to see you there!
