CREATIVITY

Visual Communication games that develop communication and self-expression through drawing and other visual cues

In Concept, your goal is to guess words through the association of icons. A team of two players —– neighbors at the table —– choose a word or phrase that the other players need to guess. Acting together, this team places pieces judiciously on the available icons on the game board. Number of Players: 4-12 Playing Time: 40 minutes Recommended Age: 10+

More than one thousand items from all walks of life can be guessed through the use of 61 transparent cards in Imagine, whether they're placed next to one another or superimposed. Almost everything in the world can be represented by a simplified concept — just don't speak while you're playing… Number of Players: 3-8 Playing Time: 15-30 minutes Recommended Age: 12+

There's no time to draw a complex masterpiece in Pictomania, the drawing game in which everybody draws and everybody guesses — all at the same time! Players sketch the essence of the word with a few quick lines and try to guess the others' drawings while there's still time. Number of Players: 3-6 Playing Time: 25 minutes Recommended Age: 9+

Spot it!, a.k.a. Dobble, is a simple pattern recognition game in which players try to find an image shown on two cards. Each card features eight different symbols, with the symbols varying in size from one card to the next. Any two cards have exactly one symbol in common. For the basic Spot it! game, reveal one card, then another. Whoever spots the symbol in common on both cards claims the first card, then another card is revealed for players to search, and so on. Whoever has collected the most cards when the 55-card deck runs out wins! Number of Players: 2-8 Playing Time: 15 minutes Recommended Age: 7+

Creating Stories games that develop ingenuity and imagination

Dixit is the lovingly illustrated game of creative guesswork, where your imagination unlocks the tale. At every turn, the storyteller will call out a short phrase or word to match the image on his card. Then each player will choose the card that most closely matches that phrase, and then everyone must guess which card the storyteller saw when he invented his brief tale. Number of Players: 3-6 Playing Time: 30 minutes Recommended Age: 8+

A horrible crime has been committed on the grounds of Warwick Manor and it's up to the psychic investigators to get to the bottom of it. In Mysterium, one player takes on the role of the ghost and over the course of a week, tries to lead the investigators to their culprit. Each night the team will be met with visions, but what is the ghost trying to tell you? Can the psychics determine the weapon, location and killer or will a violent criminal pull off the perfect murder? Number of Players: 2-7 Playing Time: 40 minutes Recommended Age: 10+

Each player begins by sketching a TELESTRATIONS word dictated by the roll of a die. The old fashioned sand timer may limit the amount of time they get to execute their sketch, but it certainly doesn't limit creativity! Time's up! All players, all at the same time, pass their sketch to the next player, who must guess what's been drawn. Players then simultaneously pass their guess -- which hopefully matches the original word (or does it??) -- to the next player who must try to draw the word they see -- and so on. Number of Players: 4-8 Playing Time: 30 minutes Recommended Age: 12+

Timeline Classic is a highly engaging version that encompasses multiple themes in one convenient package. Was the pencil invented before Washington crossed the Delaware? Each card depicts an invention on both sides, with the year in which that invention was created on only one side. Players take turns placing a card from their hand in a row on the table. The first player to get rid of all his cards by placing them correctly wins. Number of Players: 2-6 Playing Time: 15 minutes Recommended Age: 8+
